Best Juicers (2026): Cold-Press and Centrifugal, Minus the Hype

By Captain Vegan · Updated November 5, 2026 · 5 picks compared

A juicer does one job: it separates juice from pulp. How fast, how loud, and how much mess it makes along the way is where machines differ wildly. We went through Good Housekeeping, CNET, and America’s Test Kitchen testing to find the ones worth the counter space.

How We Picked

  • We leaned on Good Housekeeping’s 2026 juicer testing, CNET’s 2025 hands-on round, Yahoo’s 2026 test team, and America’s Test Kitchen’s nine-juicer test from 2021.
  • We weighed what testers measured: speed on carrots, how kale and apples came out, foam, pulp, noise, and cleanup.
  • Every pick is sold on Amazon by Amazon or by the brand’s own store, checked by exact ASIN.
  • We checked CPSC and Health Canada recalls for every model. None of our picks has one.
  • We stick to what testers measured, make no nutrition claims about juice, and never claim hands-on testing.

The Reviews

#1
Breville Juice Fountain Cold (BJE430SIL)
Best overall

Breville Juice Fountain Cold (BJE430SIL)

America’s Test Kitchen named it the best centrifugal juicer after it powered through a pound of carrots in 34 seconds and flung pulp around far less than its rivals. Yahoo’s 2026 test team made it the best juicer overall, with “perfectly smooth” juice and minimal foam. Want it bigger? Its sibling, the Juice Fountain Cold Plus, topped Good Housekeeping’s 2026 tests with a wider 3.5-inch chute.

  • 850 W, 2 speeds
  • 3-inch chute
  • 70-oz jug
  • dishwasher-safe parts

Why it made the list

  • 34 seconds per pound of carrots (ATK)
  • Contains pulp better than other centrifugals
  • Whole apples and carrots fit the chute

Watch out for

  • Had trouble with kale, like most centrifugals (ATK)
  • Juice can be a touch foamy
  • Gets loud on hard produce and scoots on the counter a bit
  • Type: centrifugal
  • Motor: 850 W, 2 speeds
  • Chute: 3 in
  • Jug / pulp bin: 70 oz / 3.6 qt
  • Warranty: 1 year

#2
Cuisinart Easy Clean Slow Juicer (CSJ-300)
Best budget slow juicer

Cuisinart Easy Clean Slow Juicer (CSJ-300)

Good Housekeeping put it in its top three for 2026: the pulp that came out was “bone dry,” so nearly all the juice landed in the glass. It skips the fine mesh strainer that turns most slow juicers into a scrubbing chore, and every removable part goes in the top rack of the dishwasher. One catch: apple juice came out wearing a quarter-inch of foam.

  • slow (masticating)
  • no mesh strainer
  • top-rack dishwasher-safe parts

Why it made the list

  • Bone-dry pulp in GH’s test
  • No mesh screen to scrub
  • Removable parts are top-rack dishwasher-safe

Watch out for

  • Quarter-inch of foam on apple juice (GH)
  • Only one outlet we rely on has tested it
  • Type: masticating (slow)
  • Filter: mesh-free
  • Dishwasher: removable parts, top rack

#3
Nama J2 Cold Press Juicer
Best splurge

Nama J2 Cold Press Juicer

Load a whole recipe into the hopper, close the lid, and go make coffee. Good Housekeeping found the J2 produced more juice and less pulp than the other models it tested, and its kale juice had less foam. Testers did find it a bit tricky to assemble correctly at first. It’s the priciest pick here, backed by a 15-year warranty.

  • self-feeding hopper
  • 50 RPM
  • 200 W
  • 15-year warranty

Why it made the list

  • More juice, less pulp in GH’s test
  • Hands-free hopper takes a whole batch
  • 15-year warranty

Watch out for

  • The most expensive pick here
  • Tricky to assemble at first (GH)
  • Type: masticating, self-feeding
  • Motor: 200 W, 50 RPM
  • Warranty: 15 years
  • Sold by: Nama’s own Amazon store

#4
Ninja NeverClog Cold Press Juicer (JC151)
Easiest cleanup

Ninja NeverClog Cold Press Juicer (JC151)

CNET’s favorite juicer: among the quietest it tested, it never clogged, and its green juice had the least separation of the bunch. Two filters let you choose less pulp or lots of pulp, and every part that touches juice goes in the dishwasher. Good Housekeeping found it struggled with kale, though, and the 1.75-inch chute means more chopping.

  • 150 W cold-press
  • 2 pulp filters
  • reverse button
  • dishwasher-safe juice parts

Why it made the list

  • Never clogged in CNET’s tests
  • Quiet for most produce
  • Fits under kitchen cabinets

Watch out for

  • Struggled with kale in GH’s test
  • Narrow 1.75-inch chute (CNET)
  • Not built for big batches (CNET)
  • Type: masticating (slow)
  • Motor: 150 W
  • Jug / pulp: 24 oz / 36 oz
  • Filters: less pulp, lots of pulp

#5
Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Pro Juice Extractor
Best budget

Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Pro Juice Extractor

The cheapest way into real juicing. Yahoo’s testers found it broke down everything very quickly, took whole carrots and apple quarters without cutting, and went together fast. Its three-year warranty is longer than the one-year coverage on the Breville. The downsides: it’s big and loud, and the spout kept dripping after the cup came out.

  • 800 W
  • 3-inch chute
  • 80-oz pulp bin
  • 3-year warranty

Why it made the list

  • Fast on whole carrots and apple quarters
  • 3-year warranty
  • Dishwasher-safe removable parts

Watch out for

  • Big and loud
  • Spout drips after you remove the cup
  • Type: centrifugal
  • Motor: 800 W
  • Chute: 3 in
  • Pulp bin: 80 oz
  • Warranty: 3 years

Cold-Press or Centrifugal?

Centrifugal juicers spin produce against a mesh basket at high speed. In ATK’s test they were cheaper, faster, and better with dense produce like carrots (7.9 ounces of juice per pound versus 6.5 for slow juicers), and their wide chutes mean less chopping. They were also loud, messier, and bad at leafy greens.

Masticating juicers, also sold as slow or cold-press, crush produce with an auger. ATK found they squeezed twice as much juice from kale (5.6 ounces per pound versus 2.8), ran quieter, and sat more steadily.

Rule of thumb: mostly carrots, apples, and citrus? Go centrifugal. Lots of greens? Go slow.

What Else Matters

Cleanup decides whether you keep juicing. Fine mesh strainers are the scrubbing job. Good Housekeeping liked that the Cuisinart skips one; Ninja puts every juice part in the dishwasher.

Chute size. A 3-inch chute takes whole apples. A narrow one, like the Ninja’s 1.75 inches, means more knife work before every glass.

Recalls. About 469,000 PowerXL Self-Cleaning Juicers (models SHL96 and SHL90-SC) were recalled in 2023 for laceration and ingestion hazards, with full refunds. Check the CPSC list before buying used.

Juice Is Not a Protein Shake

Most fruit and vegetable juice carries very little protein. If you want a drink that pulls its weight after a workout, that’s a blender’s job: grab one from our best blenders for protein shakes, or try a clear vegan protein if you like your drinks thin.

Quick Questions

Is cold-press juice colder than centrifugal juice?

Not necessarily. Good Housekeeping measured the Breville Juice Fountain Cold Plus’s juice at close to the temperature of the cold-press juicers it tested. Where slow juicers did win in ATK’s test was kale yield and noise.

Can a blender replace a juicer?

Not really. A blender keeps everything, pulp included, so you get a smoothie, not juice. If you want thick drinks with protein powder, a blender is the better buy.

Which juicer is easiest to clean?

Among the tests we cite: the Cuisinart CSJ-300 (no mesh strainer, top-rack dishwasher-safe), the Ninja NeverClog (dishwasher-safe juice parts), and the Breville Juice Fountain Cold, which ATK rated among the easiest centrifugals to clean.

Are juicers loud?

Centrifugals are. ATK called them “powerful and loud,” and Yahoo’s testers called the Hamilton Beach big and loud. CNET found the Ninja NeverClog among the quietest it tested.

Do I need to peel or chop everything?

Less than you’d think with a wide chute: Yahoo’s testers fed whole carrots and apple quarters into the Hamilton Beach without cutting. Narrow-chute slow juicers need more prep.
